The film Bicycle Dreams tells the true story of the Race Across America, a transcontinental bicycle race starting on the west coast and finishing on the east coast. On Saturday, February 25th, Le Dome banquet hall in Oakville was the scene of fabulous flappers and marvelous mobsters decked out in 1920’s bling! A swanky gala organized by an incredible family and their supporters benefitting the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation

The Pace Family, long-time supporters, participants and volunteers with the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, put on this remarkable fundraising gala, Bal de Neige, annually with the help of local sponsors, family and friends.

The food, the auctions, décor and company were superb! And anyone who had the pleasure of witnessing Coast to Coast co-founder and passionate volunteer, Jeff Rushton, dance, will agree the event was a huge success!

Bal de Neige 2012 raised thousands for the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation and most importantly, brought together a community that is able to share the challenges, surprises and sorrows of children living with and beyond cancer.

Bike for Tykes is a non-profit organization comprised of individuals who are committed to giving back to children’s charities in Toronto. Since its formation in 2000, Bike for Tykes has raised over $1M through outdoor fitness events designed to raise both funds and awareness to improve the lives of Toronto’s youth.

This year, in partnership with Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation, Bike for Tykes is putting its wheels in motion to raise funds to improve the lives of children with cancer. 100% of all funds raised, yes, 100%, will be allocated to toward the construction of the Garron Family Cancer, Stem Cells and Regenerative Medicine Neighbourhood within the Research and Learning Tower Project at the Hospital for Sick Children.

In 2011, The Coast to Coast Against Cancer foundation in partnership with Jenna’s Angels made a multi-year $1M commitment to the childhood cancer research floors in the new Research and Learning Tower. In 2011 alone, Coast to Coast and Jenna’s Angels raised and delivered $500K of that commitment. The timing of this commitment qualified for a 100% provincial government matching program.

What does that mean to you as a Bike For Tykes participant or donor?

When we partnered with Bike For Tykes last fall, we realized that this was an incredible opportunity all around. By including this event as part of the $1M commitment, not only does 100% of your donation go to this project, it will be matched downstream 100% by the provincial government!
