back
to dedications
Georgette Thomson
This dedication is in the memory of Georgette
Thomson, or for those who knew her best, "Georgie",
"Qeenie", "Gette" or "Grandma Mookie".
A grandmother, a mother, a daughter, a sister, an aunt
a
friend. Georgie had a tremendous impact on our lives and we are
definitely richer for having being part of hers.
It was February of last year when we discovered
that Georgie had pancreatic cancer. By the time of her diagnosis,
the disease had already taken an incurable hold. However, Gette
was the first to say "Im not going without a fight."
Her courage and spirit were immeasurable. Each moment was a moment
that she treasured. She was our strength through the most difficult
times, even into her final moments. Should would not allow a tear
to be shed, not even one. Her courage never wavered, she found
peace and passed in August on her terms.
Georgie loved life and treasured the simple moments. She loved
the sound of gentle rain and cherished her walks in the forest
after a rain storm. She loved long hot baths and cuddling in front
of a fire on a cold winters night.
Georgie continues to be a source of inspiration as she has taught
us so much. Live life
love life
cherish life.
