Board of Directors and Advisory Board

The Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation Board of Directors is comprised of volunteers who have been closely associated with the organization’s various events and programs since inception. 

Before the end of 2007, six to eight additional members will be invited to join the Board, solicited from within the cancer community, medical communities and business communities. Final Board membership will include representation from across Canada and will be accountable to the mandate of the Foundation and the various stakeholders, including those who have committed funds in support of the Foundation. In addition, in 2007, Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation will be establishing an Advisory Board and a formal committee structure made up of representatives from across Canada for events & gift giving to ensure the all donations raised got to the best programs for improving the survival rate and quality of life of children impacted by cancer.  The Advisory Board and committees will consist of additional representation from the cancer care community, sponsors, volunteers and other members of the childhood cancer community.. They will provide insight, support and validation for future fundraising programs and will advocate for the Foundation and its’ programs and events.

Current Board Memebers Include

Board Chair: Jeff Rushton

Jeff Rushton is a senior executive with extensive experience in leading billion dollar organizations in leadership positions including President, COO and CFO.  He has held executive-level positions for Fujitsu Consulting, Netigy Corporation, MCI Systemhouse and Rogers Communications. Jeff also ran his own consulting company, with a focus on strategy and change management.  Currently Jeff is EVP of Vizible Corporation, a software company focused on 3D web experiences.

Jeff holds an Honors Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Wilfrid Laurier University, an MBA from the University of Toronto, and is a Certified Management Accountant.

Jeff Rushton is the Founder and Chair of the Coast the Coast Against Cancer Foundation.  In addition, he holds Board Member positions with Camp Trillium, Camp Quality both registered charities providing camping and support services to children and families impacted by cancer.

Steven H. Sokolowski
Dr. Steven Sokolowski is president of the Courtyard Group of Companies, a company that has been involved in organizational change, corporate communication services, strategic consulting as well as the design of various forms of research and assessment programs since 1980.  During this time, Steven also founded and ran an award-winning international advertising and film production company.

For the last 15 years, Steven has provided specialized organizational, research and strategic assistance to companies in the financial services, resource, and high technology areas.    Dr. Sokolowski has PhD degrees in both mathematics and social psychology from Stanford and Columbia University.

Over the years Steven has actively supported a number of arts organizations, not for profit foundations and charities.  Steven has been involved with Tour For Kids and Coast to Coast Against Cancer since its inception and currently is a board member of the C2C foundation.

Scott Graham and Fredrik Carlberg
Scott Graham and Fredrik Carlberg are co-owners of The Boomerang Group, specialists in marketing and communications and based in Mississauga.  The Boomerang Group provides all branding, design, web and collateral production for Coast to Coast Against Cancer events including Tour For Kids, The Inside Ride and the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride.

Scott and Fredrik are original members and co-founders of Coast to Coast ride across United States (2002), Coast to Coast ride across Canada (2003), Tour for Kids (2004-2007), Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation (2007), and the Sears National Kids Cancer Ride (2007)

Laurie Clark
Laurie Clark is a chartered accountant and consultant with over 25 years experience in finance, marketing and technology.   Laurie was employed by CIBC/CIBC World Markets from 1994 to 1998. Her roles included Chief of Staff, CIBC World Markets Infrastructure where she was responsible for the project management of the implementation of a global model for support services.  Previous roles included Director of Finance and Director of Technology Products.  Prior to that, Laurie was employed by Royal Trust and Thorne Riddell. 

Laurie is currently employed as a consultant providing project management and technology support to a large corporation.  Other engagements have included business opportunity analysis, strategy and productivity reviews and development of employee satisfaction surveys.

Laurie is a new addition to the board of Coast to Coast against Cancer acting as Treasurer.  She is a long time supporter of the tax program for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario and is an active volunteer at her community school.  In addition, Laurie is an active supporter and contributor to a number of different charitable and arts organizations.
